Job Summary:
The CPE Supervisor/Pastoral Education Coordinator will provide administrative oversight over all aspects of the CPE program. He/she will supervise the CPE Residency Group, Supervisory Education Program and have the opportunity to participate with the other CPE Supervisor who is the Pastoral Care Coordinator in interfacing the department with the hospital. In addition, he/she will be providing pastoral care to patients, families and employees. Employees providing direct patient care must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served.

• Master of Divinity degree from an ATS accredited seminary, and ordination or appropriate church endorsement to function in hospital chaplaincy is required.
• Must be certified as an associate supervisor or clinical pastoral education.
• Supervisor in the Association of Clinical Pastoral Education or achieve certification within 2 years of hire.
• Enrollment or completion of Supervisory CPE is required.

  • Collaborate with staff in providing support for the physical, mental, social and spiritual “Best Life” of seniors
  • Provide and oversee chaplain visitation for residents on campus and off campus at hospitals and/or hospice
  • Be available for memorials and funerals
  • Lead a weekly Sunday morning worship service
  • Planning and managing programs and budget for the Spiritual Care Department and the Brain Wellness Academy
  • Participate in the Administrative Committee
  • Oversee support groups such Alzheimer’s Care Giver, Bereavement, Parkinson’s Disease, and Visual Impaired Persons (VIP)
  • Participate in the social life of the community working closely with Activity leaders
  • Liaison with community clergy, hosting a monthly minister luncheon

This position includes teaching undergraduate and graduate courses for the various programs throughout the university, as well as core classes in the M.S. in Chaplaincy program.

Ph.D./Th.D. from an accredited institution in the area of either practical theology, psychology of religion, chaplaincy, behavioral health, or a closely related field preferred.

Minimum two years clinical training and experience in areas such as pastoral care, chaplaincy, counseling, marriage and family education, and/or pastoral ministry required.

Two years teaching experience at the college level preferred. Board certified chaplain (BCC), or pastoral counselor, therapist (e.g., LMFT, LPC, etc.) is preferred. Member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church preferred.

Master’s Degree in Clinical Ministry. Minimum of one year of Pastoral experience required or equivalent 2 units of CPE Training (if not already obtained; 4 units total by end of residency) Ordination or in progress. A ceremony to publicly recognize one’s fitness by your Denomination for full-time service in Pastoral Care. Ministerial credential, commissioned ministerial credential, and ministerial license required. NAD ministerial license required if considered by the church a Spiritual Leader.

Staff Chaplain (Part-Time)

-Proven pastoral skills in parish, healthcare, or other settings required.
