Director, Mission & Spiritual Care

Directs the market alignment and deployment of the Adventist Health Mission Integration Model. Deploys and aligns effective mission initiatives. Oversees market Spiritual Care and Environment. Delivers accountability to measures of mission effectiveness. Develops and creates operational alignment in Calling, Culture and Community.

Essential Functions:

  • Leads market spiritual ministries (chaplaincy) to effectively reflect mission in the care of patients and staff in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Coordinates and facilitates ministry of chaplains to staff, including education, integration, and evaluation of mission quality standards.
  • Leads Mission Integration initiatives in alignment with system and regional strategies in collaboration with market executive team.
  • Works with Human Performance in developing means for mission integration into recruiting, onboarding, retaining, educating and other ongoing HP functions.
  • Ensures that mission initiatives support the Patient Experience goals at a ministry level.
  • Collaborates on mission-related outreach strategies and events that support the organization’s faith-inspired mission.

 Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in theology, divinity, religious studies, pastoral ministry, spirituality, ethics, or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Required
  • Master of Divinity or equivalent from an accredited university or seminary and/or Masters of Public Health: Preferred

Work Experience:

      • Seven years related experience: Preferred
      • Five years leadership experience: Preferred
      • Four units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) from an accredited center: Preferred
      • Three years experience as a full-time mission leader, Chaplain or pastor: Preferred

Required Licenses/Certifications:

        • Current ministerial license from the Seventh-day Adventist Church: Preferred
        • Ecclesiastical endorsement by Adventist Chaplaincy Ministries: Preferred

Contract Religious Ministry Professional (CRMP)
Naval Health Clinic Hawaii (NHCH)

OBJECTIVE/SCOPE
The contractor will provide religious support for patients and staff at the clinics and facilities comprising NHCH and Tripler Army Medical Center. Religious Support and Spiritual Care services are an integral part of the care of wounded members because it helps facilitate their recovery and reintegration back to living productive lives, both during their military service as well as after. Additionally, the required services include liaison between the Fleet and Fleet Marine Force chaplains and Tripler Army Medical Center (TAMC) to expedite command religious support and spiritual care. Finally, the requirement is for service in the critical role of supporting staff resiliency, wellness programs, and individual counseling for the 670 military and civilian staff members of NHCH. Engagement with staff helps ensure their sustained well-being and aligns with the Surgeon General’s strategic priorities.

CONTRACTOR QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
• Contract Religious Support and Spiritual Care Provider must be ordained clergy in good standing with their diocese or religious order, endorsed by a DoD-recognized faith group, hold a minimum master’s Degree in Divinity, Theology, or Religious Studies as well as completion of 2 to 4 units of Clinical Religious support and spiritual care Education from a nationally recognized accrediting association. Previous background as a military member and designation as a Board Certified Chaplain is highly desired.
• All personnel must be able to access JBPHH per base security regulations. Base Access: Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC), has established the Defense Biometrics Identification System (DBIDS), a standardized process for granting unescorted access privileges to vendors, contractors, suppliers and service providers not otherwise entitled to the issuance of a Common Access Card (CAC) who seek access to and can provide justification to enter Navy installations and facilities.

This position includes teaching undergraduate and graduate courses for the various programs throughout the university, as well as core classes in the M.S. in Chaplaincy program.

Requirements
Ph.D./Th.D. from an accredited institution in the area of either practical theology, psychology of religion, chaplaincy, behavioral health, or a closely related field preferred.

Minimum two years clinical training and experience in areas such as pastoral care, chaplaincy, counseling, marriage and family education, and/or pastoral ministry required.

Two years teaching experience at the college level preferred. Board certified chaplain (BCC), or pastoral counselor, therapist (e.g., LMFT, LPC, etc.) is preferred. Member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church preferred.

Requirements
Master’s Degree in Clinical Ministry. A ceremony to publicly recognize one’s fitness by your Denomination for full-time service in Pastoral Care. Staff Chaplain (Part-Time)

Requirements
-Master’s degree in Divinity, Theology, Spirituality or related field required.
-Proven pastoral skills in parish, healthcare, or other settings required.
-Clinical Pastoral Education training (minimum of two units required, four units preferred)
-Certification (or eligibility for) the College of Chaplains, NACC, National Association of Jewish Chaplains other recognized endorsing body.
-Experienced Chaplain with strong interfaith commitment.
